Mike is a seasoned corporate transactional attorney with extensive domestic and international experience in Mergers & Acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships. His practice also includes counseling clients on early-stage investments and complex commercial agreements.

Previously, Mike was Deputy General Counsel at Rakuten Marketing, where he was responsible for managing Mergers & Acquisitions, Joint Ventures and Strategic Partnerships, investments in early-stage companies, major commercial transactions, and also supported the Human Resources, Finance and Business Development teams. He also supported the corporate and corporate development activities of Rakuten USA, the US arm of Japanese ecommerce giant Rakuten.

Before to joining Rakuten, Mike worked with Morrison & Foerster LLP and Baker & McKenzie LLP, where his practice focused on Mergers & Acquisitions, Venture Capital Transactions, Securities Offerings, Public Company Reporting, and Complex Commercial Agreements in the internet, technology and biotechnology sectors. Mike’s practice has included substantial international experience, including a stint in the Hong Kong office of Morrison & Foerster.

Mike received his Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School and received his BA from Brown University. Mike attended elementary and high school in Vienna, Austria.
