Brian is known as a trusted advisor and innovator in the legal and entrepreneurship communities.  As a deal attorney, either structuring and closing transactions or handling disputes stemming from transactions, he regularly represents successful entrepreneurs, repeat founders and high-profile leaders and organizations.  Brian has represented clients in numerous capital raising transactions, mergers, acquisitions and technology and IP transactions.  He has significant experience with a diverse range of intellectual property and internet law issues, including digital and social media, advertising, promotions, cybersecurity, and data privacy.  He also advises clients on the acquisition, enforcement, and monetization of intellectual property, and he has extensive experience with countless transactions, including licensing, involving business-critical IP.  Additionally, Brian also helps manage IP portfolios for public and private companies, high-net worth individuals, and family trusts.  His clients range from technology, CPG and service industry startups to international enterprise companies, including where he regularly serves as outside general counsel.

Based in Austin, TX, Brian currently serves as a Lawyer in Residence at the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business, and he is actively involved in the entrepreneur ecosystem, including service on the Board of Directors of EO Austin. 

Prior to his legal career, Brian was an IT Consultant with the global IT firm Accenture.  As an attorney, Brian has served as outside general counsel and outsourced technology counsel to publicly traded and private companies alike.  He enjoys traveling, mentoring and lecturing, watching college sports and anything outdoors with his wife and two daughters.
