Senior Counsel

Jose represents companies, founders, and investors in a broad range of transactional and corporate matters, with a primary focus on mergers and acquisitions, emerging companies/venture capital, and general corporate advisory. Jose regularly advises clients on both the buy- and sell-side of complex M&A transactions, including strategic acquisitions and combinations, add-on acquisitions, divestitures, and founder-led exits, and private equity transactions.

In the emerging companies and venture capital space, Jose counsels early-stage and growth-stage companies on entity formation, equity financings, capitalization strategy, and corporate structuring. He also represents venture capital firms and angel investors in investment transactions across various stages.

Jose also has a robust outside general counsel practice where he provides a wide array of clients with ongoing strategic guidance on corporate governance, board and stockholder matters, and commercial contracting, including consulting agreements, licensing agreements, distribution agreements, master services agreements, and strategic partnering and joint venture arrangements.

Jose received his J.D from Columbia Law School, his M.B.A. from the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine, and his B.S. in Accountancy, summa cum laude, from the Adventist University of the Philippines.

Outside of the practice of law, Jose enjoys playing the saxophone, violin, and piano, as well as staying active through tennis and strength training. Jose is fluent in Tagalog.
