Sam is experienced in various aspects of real estate investment, development and management, including acquisitions, financing, development, joint ventures, commercial leasing and brokerage. His broad experience covers a large range of property sectors including retail, office, industrial, mixed-use and residential. As an experienced attorney and real estate broker, Sam often acts as the communication hub for real estate transactions across the United States and internationally. Specifically, he has experience assisting foreign clients with in-bound transactions into the U.S. and U.S. based clients with out-bound transactions into India.
Sam regularly works closely with client and brokerage teams and provides advice and guidance related to strategic planning, project oversight and key private and public relationships, including access to capital markets.
Sam works closely with start-up founders in the U.S., India, Europe and the Middle East in the emerging tech areas, assisting with legal, business strategy and investments. His robust relationships with funds, family offices and Angel Investors in these regions add enhanced value to his clients. He sits on various Advisory Boards and is involved with investment ecosystems in the U.S. and India.
Sam previously served as COO and General Counsel at the Black Lion Investment Group and corporate counsel at Shea Properties and the Empire Company. He also practiced at several business and real estate law firms in Southern California, and as part of KPMG’s International Tax Consulting practice.
Sam is a frequently sought-after lecturer at business and legal events and seminars, speaking on such issues as real estate transactions and trends (both in-bound to the U.S. and out-bound to India), India real estate acquisition and leasing strategies, business expansion, international law and risk management.
Sam received his LLM. in Taxation and International / Corporate Law from the University of San Diego School of Law, his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and his dual undergraduate in economics and political science from UCLA. He currently lives in Orange County with his wife and two kids, who constantly inspire him. He enjoys reading, traveling, keeping fit and networking.
